My family is off at Good Friday Mass, and I’m alone. I remember how beautiful Mass is, though I’ve not attended for two years and change. I’m not a Christopagan, but I do not hate Christianity, I do not hate Catholicism (no matter that it hates me), I miss religious ritual that isn’t solitary, and the smells, and the music, and the Latin, and I wish I wasn’t alone. The plaint of the lone quondam Catholic in a family of devout and active Catholic Christians.
